Toby

Our little man with a king sized heart

Who asked so little and gave so much.

We had but 10 years of your warmth and love

But it branded our memories forever.

Memories of….

Belly rubs while you caressed your ear

The battle with grandpa over a chair finally shared

Melting Mom’s heart by using her lap

Morning brushings to steal dad’s heart

A water drinking ritual that was yours alone

Hidey holes filled with fur

A warmed chair for Hal to use

Training Mom to hand feed on demand

Cuteness draped over the arm of a chair

Closed doors opened on request

A “come care for me” look that could melt frozen hearts

Baskets filled with love and fur

Ladders climbed with no return

Heights conquered with no fear

Picture alarm that got mom on the move

Of toys ignored while mom and dad played

Couch covers of cuddly fur

Towers conquered at break neck speed

Car trips taken in stride

Paper chased with great glee

Sleeping on stairs for us to dodge

Sharing the paper as we read the news

Sitting in sinks allowed with love

Blind cords attacked with firm resolve

Hanging out on the local tower

A curiosity that knew no bounds

Resulting in mischief around every bend

To the end you delighted and loved

And filled many a dreary day with fun

You spoke a language we could not speak

But totally understood

As we watched you slip away

Our broken hearts were mended by your total peace as though you gave us the nod of your approval

Our little man… you will be missed

You enriched our lives beyond words and will forever remain a warm spot in our memories
